Many of us are aware of the health benefits of adding spirulina to our diets, but did you know it's also makes for a great skin treatment? This quick and simple face mask helps to exfoliate, moisturize and nourish your skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and radiant.
Exfoliating & Nourishing Spirulina Face Mask
Don't worry if you don't have all the ingredients listed here — it's still a fantastic mask if the spirulina is mixed with just one or two of the other ingredients.
- 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 avocado
Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and mash with a fork until they form a paste. Tie you hair back if it is long and wear old clothes (this mask is very green!). Apply the mask using you fingers, avoiding the eye area.
Leave the mask on for up to 15 minutes before gently rinsing off with warm water and a cloth. Pat your face dry and moisturize with a natural oil or balm.
Spirulina is a fantastic source of antioxidants and also contains chlorophyll which is a great cleanser. It also helps your skin retain moisture which will keep it looking smoother and more hydrated, along with eliminating bacteria that can cause acne. The anti-bacterial properties of bananas and honey help tackle acne-causing bacteria, while bananas also exfoliate. The apple cider vinegar gives you skin a healthy glow.
