Maca Ginger Tea Recipe

Yourlixir Maca Powder Ginger Tea Recipe

Aunt Flow can be quite the unwelcome visitor and she tends to pop up in the least convenient times.  If you’re one of those rare women who never suffers from cramps, we commend you (and also envy you).  For the rest of us normal gals, the cramping can put a serious damper on your day and prevent you from doing the things you need to get done.

So, what’s a girl boss to do when cramps come a’knockin? You could scramble to your local convenience store and buy some overpriced pills filled with synthetic ingredients that merely mask your symptoms...or, you can do your body a solid and whip up this easy, all-natural remedy that your uterus will thank you for.

You don’t need us to tell you how ginger helps with nausea and stomach pains.  Anyone with an over-doting mom or grandmother has likely been treated with ginger teas, candies and the like when you’ve been under the weather.  It’s a well-known antidote for an upset stomach, but also showboats a myriad of other health benefits like managing glucose levels, improving circulation and digestion, relieving stress and menstrual pains, and helping to absorb nutrients.  Which brings us to our magnificent maca superpowder!

Yourlixir Maca Powder is an adaptogenic root that has become a daily staple in our diet for so many reasons.  Maca root powder not only keeps our hormones in check, but enhances your libido (granted, not all of us actually need more!), increases energy levels by nourishing the adrenal glands, and is full of B-complex vitamins and minerals.  Maca has a mildly sweet flavor, making it an easy complement to foods and beverages like this Maca Ginger Tea.  Most importantly, this Peruvian superfood assists with de-stressing the body, boosting your mood and balancing your hormones, which we can all use a dose (or two) of during our monthly menses.

What you’ll need:

(Servings: 1)

  • 8oz filtered or spring water
  • A small piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp Yourlixir Maca Powder
  • 1 dash of cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Take a small piece of fresh ginger and peel it
  2. Cut the ginger into thin slices
  3. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and add the ginger
  4. Turn off the stove
  5. Add the honey & cinnamon and stir until dissolved
  6. Cover and let it steep for 10 minutes
  7. Add one single serving packet of Yourlixir Maca Powder* and stir until dissolved
  8. Pour into your favorite mug, garnish with your steeped ginger and kiss your cramps goodbye!

Side note ladies, this recipe isn’t just for females.  Get your guy on his health game, too!  Men benefit from these potent superfoods just as much as we do, so why not double up on your recipe and “double the pleasure, double the fun”!  ;)

Friendly reminders:

*It’s important that you add the maca powder last, after the ginger has steeped, as heat can destroy the maca’s nutrients.

*The longer you steep, the spicier it will become!  If it’s too strong, try adding a little more honey.

*Optimally, maca is best taken on a daily or consistent basis to experience its full effects.

*Keep refilling your teacup (with the ginger pieces in it) with boiling water until the ginger flavor dissipates.
